Was the gauge cluster an over the counter fiberglass piece?

You're welcome, Mike.

I'm remembering the Chaparral Camaro dash as being metal not plastic. I'll have to ask around to be sure.

I stand corrected. The piece that holds the gauges is fiberglass.

I received some very nice black & white photos today from Don Struke. He took these at the 1967 Marlboro Trans-Am,
the first victory for Penske Racing on the Trans-Am circuit. Many thanks to Don for sharing these photos with us. We
can't get enough of old-time photos around here.

Wow, great site  :)

My dad, Robert Clemens, raced his Silver #71 1970 Camaro in the Trans-Am Series in 71 and 72.
Here is a picture of his car...1971 at Watkins Glen.

Hi Robin,

In case you missed it, there is a story about this car on the HTA site under roster.  I remember this car from racing against it at the 72 Glen T/A race.

I can also remember your dad racing at Waterford Hills, but can't recall in what car(s).

Thanks for the compliment. It nice to have you join us Robin. Pretty neat to have a
dad who raced a nicely prepared Camaro in Trans-Am back in the "Glory Days". :)

Here's a picture I saw at the 2013 Monterey Historics. It shows Mark Donohue riding as a passenger in a '62 Corvette.
I suspect this is for a parade lap of the drivers before the '69 Laguna Seca Trans-Am race.

The dark green Alan Green sponsored '67 Z-28 driven by Skip Scott. Skip won the "big bore" race at Kent, WA on June 30, 1968.
This is the same car driven by Gary Gove and Jerry Grant during the '67 season.

Jon I know you said this was a 67... however was it rebodied as a 68? No vent windows 68 grille and marker lights?

James, it for sure is a '67 but they put '68 doors on it, a '68 grille and side marker lights to make it looks like the current year model for the '68 season.
It's been returned to a '67 look and is currently owned and raced by Tony Hart... http://www.historictransam.com/Drivers/TonyHart67Camaro7.html

The recent photos I remembered had the vent windows and other 67 cues, I was hoping there was a missing 68 Alan Green car to be found. :(

The white painted car, with the bright rallye green stripes and accents is different, and striking!

The original color of the car was Capri Cream (off-white) and the stripes were just green in the center with the pinstripes still in black. For some reason it was not returned to that original color scheme. Very late in the '67 season the car was painted dark green with white stripes. There was a second '67 Z-28 that had sponsorship from Alan Green but only for the '67 Sebring race. This was the cream with black stripe car of Phil Seaborn. Phil painted the car orange with some black accent work later in '67. The whereabouts of that car are unknown. Ken Deckman also had a '67 Z that he bought from Alan Green Chevrolet and raced in Trans-Am but it was not an officially sponsored Alan Green car. That car is Marina Blue with white stripes and is currently owned by Bob Morton.

Here's a shot of the Washburn Chevrolet sponsored '67 Z-28 at speed. Tony Settember was the driver and Bob Joehnck was the crew chief/team manager.
