Dick Brown Collection

Dick Brown Collection

"These two photographs were taken in the Trois-Rivières race weekend in September of 1970......I ran in both the Quebec Regional Championship that year and the Canadian Touring Car Championship races, back to back on Sunday.

The first shot is in the Quebec race (25 laps), open for sedans and sports cars (explaining the Cobra on the front row in second position) which I won from the Cobra and Derek Johnson flag to flag from pole (Todco car qualified third on the outside front row).

The second shot was taken after my second win.

The second race was the Canadian Touring Car race (40 laps) and we were joined this time by Moe Carter in his ex-Chaparal Camaro who had qualified second and .... after having again qualified on pole beat them all flag to flag and .......... and by a country mile might I add  .

You could say I was just flying that day as  the car was extremely well set up by our very competent mechanics ,  and that shorts city circuits being favourites of mine, I won Three Rivers 5 years/times in different cars, all sedans of course..."

The "Export A" Camaro was an ex-Titus car which Dick Brown's team got in 1969 (Orange Firebird) from TG Racing after Jerry damaged their Firebird in practice in St-Jovite in 1969.

Lloyd Ruby in the Gene White Firestone/Jim Rathmann Chevrolet sponsored Camaro is locked in a heated battle
with Parnelli Jones' Bud Moore Mustang. This is at the Citrus 250, a Nascar GT race at Daytona in February '69.
This was the debut of the Boss 302 Mustang in any kind of officially sanctioned race. Neither car finished.

Thanks to Robert for all the new photo additions!

Great stuff from a true enthusiast, both "back in the day," and today.

Mark Donohue's Sunoco Javelin prior to the '71 Wolverine Trans-Am. Privateer racer Martin Shook's blue '67 Z-28 Camaro (car #54) can be seen next
to Donohue's car but he's not sharing a front row spot with Mark. The inner row of cars will head out first followed by the row headed by Martin's car.

You might like this one as well. Same car at Daytona in February, 1968. Not allowed to run in the
Daytona 24-Hour race because it still did not pass tech inspection.

Re:  Photo of Parnelli and Ruby in Citrus 250...race was won by Don Yenko in recently purchased( by Mike Summers of Best Photo Service ) Yunick Camaro. In my book " The Yenko Era " you will find a photo of Mr. Jones sitting in the Mustang looking very unhappy. He said he was at a disadvantage being a Firestone dealer ,having to use a tire not competitive with latest Goodyears. Also , I recall he had trouble with the shifter.

Re the Michigan 71 T/A photo - I believe those cars were lined up for a practise session, in no particular order.

Another shot of the Alan LaBrush #70 Camaro prior to the running of the '71 Road America Trans-Am.
That's Frank Reimann's #43 Camaro. My stepfather, Jack Guerrier, is the person talking to Alan LaBrush.

Mo Carter's red '67 Z-28, taken at Mosport in September 1967. These come courtesy of Mike Scott (group/7) from Ontario, Canada.
Thanks for sharing, Mike!
