Jerry Lagod's Camaro circa 1971. This car began life as a '68 Camaro but was reskinned into a '69 after a wreck.

Jon, has the Stoddard car surfaced in the T/A vintage world?  Jerry Lagod still has their 68/69?

I don't know if the Stoddard car survives or not. There is not much info on that particular car or driver. This is my only photo of the car.  [EDIT: The Stoddard car has been found and restored by owner Jeff Makovich.  He plans to race it in the HTA group on the West Coast.]

Here are some more photos of Jerry Lagod's car courtesy of Mike Jarchow. Yes, Lagod still has his old car.

A couple of photos of the Everett Hatch Camaro. This car was raced by Dick Stanton
and Duane Zinola in '67 before Ev Hatch took over the driving in '68 and updated the
look of the car to the '68 body style. The color was light yellow and raced primarily in
Northern CA and Oregon.

Lance Pruyn hangin' the tail out in his nearly stock '67 Z-28. I believe this was taken at the car's first race
at the Lime Rock Trans-Am, 5/30/67. The car was not even a month old at the time. (built 05A)

Hello Jon,

Thanks for posting the pic of the 1967 Dick Guldstrand Dana Camaro with the front wheel off.  When I last saw this car racing with the Historic Trans-Am group it was running a Corvette spindle, which then has the caliper mounted in front of the axle centerline.  I figured it may have run a Corvette spindle and caliper brackets because of Guldstrand's well known expertise with 'Vette bits.

This pic shows me that my assumption may have been wrong, or perhaps the Corvette spindle wasn't used 'til after Riverside, 1967.

Chad, The photos of the cars on the track are fun to look at but these shots that allow us to see more of the details of the cars are the ones I really enjoy. The '67 rule book does not discuss spindles but the '68 rule books says the spindles can be modified or changed as long as there are no changes to the track or wheelbase. I'm not sure if the Corvette spindle would do any of that. I guess that needs some research. I think it's pretty clear the car did not run that way in '67 but as for '68, I don't have an answer for that at this time. I don't recall another Camaro running with the caliper on the leading side of the axle centerline back in the old days. Anybody else aware of an example?

Jon

As I recall the John Punnam 68 Camaro ran modified Corvette front spindles.

What I notice in the photo of the Guldstrand #56 Camaro is the gap between the front of the door and fender near the top. Is this the result of a bad repair/ installation or were they lowering the nose in front thus resulting in the gap.

Ralph Webb's Camaro getting ready to head to the track for the '68 Meadowdale Trans-Am.

Photo: Mike Jarchow Collection

This car was owned by Arnie Fick and sponsored by O A Fick Tool and Die Works in Chicago.  It is a 1967 Camaro that was a repo. Almost everything was stripped from it, including the grill, so a 1968 grill was installed.

Jon, I am having trouble with my scanner. Can you please post a couple more of the pictures I sent you of this car.  I know there is the rear shot in the driveway and an action shot from the 1968 Trans Am at Meadowdale with Ralph Webb driving.
