Bill Howell worked for Vince Piggins' group within GM. He was not involved solely with a specific Camaro team but would help out any Camaro racer with technical information over the phone or at the track if he was at a particular race. No doubt he was going to help a Penske or Hall team first as needed and then help elsewhere after that. Bill was and is an extremely sharp engine man and carburetor and fuel injection specialist. Bill helped a number of racers get their cross ram 2x4 manifold set-ups dialed in when those first came on the scene in '68. He was also involved with the vacuum-assisted brake pad retraction that first showed up at the '68 Sebring race. Bill is a very talented person who was of great benefit to Chevrolet's Trans-Am efforts on many fronts.

Is Bill Howell still active in any vintage racing?

Jon, I've really enjoyed looking at the pictures and information so a huge thanks for keeping this going and everyone that has assisted. This is quite a collection so again thanks to everyone involved.
Two questions: One of the cars has Laurel Racing written on the deck lid area. Do you know where they hailed from? Mark Donahue's son Michael, did he ever follow in any type of car endeavors?

You're welcome, Chick. I'm glad that you have enjoyed what has been posted here.

As Mike pointed out, the Laurel Racing team was from South Bend, Indiana.

Mark Donohue's son Michael did not follow in his dad's racing footsteps but his other son David has done so and is a very talented and competitive driver.
thanks Group/7 and Jon! You fellows rock with this information! I will have to check son David out so thanks again..... See you at MCACN Jon!

you might contact Dominic who runs the autocourse.ca site.  Legault not listed in the T/A results - could
have been in a support race.

I have some notes that mention, the Richard Brown driven (ex T/G Racing Firebird) Camaro built  (converted from it's Firebird identity) going to  "a bus company in Quebec, sponsorship was "La Patrie, the car was sold to Bob Giannou in '73, it was later sold to the General manager of McDonald Chev/Olds (Halifax ?) It had a 302 Chev, Muncie and 12 bolt. In about '77 it was sold to Rick Miro and ultimately it rests in the Halifax landfill. The brakes and gauges went into a '55 Chev, (the Traco oil filter adapter went to me in NZ.

Surprised they would still be running the 200S wheel in 71, I thought it had issue with cracking.

It makes sense for the seller to keep the good wheels and cast of the left over 200's
