VIN info for "67 RS/SS
« on: May 14, 2006, 12:16:49 AM »
I have a 1967 RS/SS with the following cowl tag information:  07B  E                                Protector Plate:  124377N252774 R
                                                                                      ST 67 12637 NOR 152620                            QWO 705 G        X
                                                                                      TR 767-14  LL                                                   4
                                                                                       E 2R3L                                                      E  LL
                                                                                       4N                                                            TO627 my
                                                                                                                                                       67C 539

It's a 396/325HP  Bench seats  Shifts on the column-three speed.  Does anyone know about the rarity, number of Camaros produced with these options, etc.

Also, is there place (website) where I could enter the VIN to find out information about my Camaro?

Thanks for your help!

There is not really a record of combination options, but I will say a bench seat, column shift 396 Camaro is pretty rare.

AL4 - Bench Front Seat - 6,583
L35 - 396/325 - 4,003

I thought all 396/325  Camaros were 4 speed cars or automatic?

There was a 'special' 3 speed [hd] rpo M13 available for L35 396ci and L48 350ci.

You could cross check you car with rpo Z27 [required with M13] to see if you have all those items as well.

The Z27 option was a 1969 only item and was created because of the introduction of the "non-SS" 350/255 (LM1), and later in the year, the "non-SS" 350/250 (L65). The Z27 option included, among other things, the 350/300 TurboFire V8, Special Hood, Sport Striping, Hood Insulation, F70x14 Wide-Oval Whilte Lettered Tires, Special Suspension, Power Disk Brakes, Bright Accents on Simulated Rear Fender Louvers, Bright Engine Accents and SS Emblems. In addition, if you so desired, you could then "upgrade" your SS package with one of four other engines available. The 396/325 (L35), the 396/350 (L34), the 396/375 (L78) or the 396/375 Aluminum Head (L89). Note that these engines were only available if you purchased the Z27 SS Package and, of course, were an additional charge to the already optional SS charges. For instance, after you purchased the Z27 SS Package at $281.00, you could then add the 396/325 (L35) engine for an additional $60.00. Sure wish these prices were still valid today!!  ::)

Now, as there was only one 350 engine available in 67 and 68 (the 295HP L48), and since it was designated an "SS" automatically, there wasn't a need to have a separate "SS" and "non-SS" option code. Also, for 1967, the "included" transmission for the 396/325 was the M13, with the Muncie M20 4 speed and the Turbo 400 being optional.

Mr. Barker, some of the codes on your Protecto-Plate seem to be missing, and the options codes don't seem to be in the correct order. Can you post a picture of your plate so we can supply additional information for you?

Shifts on the column-three speed.

I think y'all misread this. He's talking a column shift automatic. Note the engine and trans codes....
