69 Z-28 RS Marking
« on: January 07, 2011, 12:42:55 AM »
My 1969 Z-28 RS has Camaro badges on the rear area of the front fenders.  I notice that some other Z RS's have rally sport badges in this area.  Were both types used?  Are mine correct?  Thanks

On a Z/28 without RS, the rear of the fender got the "Camaro" emblem; with RS, it got the "Rally Sport" emblem instead of the "Camaro" emblem.

Thanks for the info.  If I replace the Camaro badges with rally-sport I assume some body work might be needed with different hole locations etc.

Yes, hole configurations are definitely different.

Before you change the emblems, you might want to verify (if you haven't allready) that you have an RS. MANY people added some of the RS trim over the years. There are probably more surviving rally sports today than were ever built by GM. Years ago, many of the "factory" options on my cars came from the local wrecking yard.

It is an X-33 code.  It also has the RS hidden lights, black grille, trim, back up lights, RS taillights. rear louvers.

You could pull a back up light and see if the hole in the tail pan (if it hasn't been replaced) is punched or cut...

Not sure what wiper motor.  I am in Illinois and the car is currently in Florida and won't come up here until our fine winter weather is over in a few months.  Maybe I can get a friend who is near the car to check the wiper motor or back up lights.

Several methods to figure out what you have. Do you have a picture of the wiper motor?

This is the correct application of emblems for a RS/Z

By the way the fenders have to come off to change the emblems.
