Tachometer Lead Broken
« on: May 12, 2006, 12:52:33 AM »
69 Z28 RS, Tachometer in dash. The tach has three leads, two of which are attached to studs with nuts, and one that is attached to a rivet. This last lead has separated from the rivet. It looks like this may be a common problem. Has anyone else seen this? Any suggestions for how to repair, given that tachs are notoriously fragile?

UPDATE: I discovered that the solution was to disassemble the tach, drill out the broken rivet, and replace with a screw and nut. It's so nice to work again on vehicles that can actually be repaired! Case closed. :D
