L-65 vs LM-1
« on: November 26, 2010, 03:22:28 PM »
What is the difference between the two motors above other than the LM-1 has a 4V vs the L-65 with the 2V? Any valve, cam difference?

Thanks

For a few,
The LM1, in most cases got a 12 bolt and the L65 a 10 Bolt. In transmissions, the LM1 and SS cars got the Muncie MC1 as the base and upgraded 4 speeds, the L65 was a saginaw for the base transmission(s).

"The LM1 was replaced in January of 1969 by the L65 engine option, a 350 with a 2-barrel carb, rated at 250hp and priced at $21.10. Other than the carb, intake, and distributor changes, it was the same engine as the LM1. It would appear that this was a minor change with only a rated 5 hp reduction. But the effect on the L65 powertrain was dramatic."

Does the L-65 have the same air cleaner setup as the LM-1 or does it look more like the 327/210 air cleaner?

Thanks

The LM1 and SS350 (L48) both had the exact same air cleaner setup, with the chrome lid. As far as the LM1 vs the L65, the L65 was setup for a 2bbl carb and no chrome lid. Not sure of any other differences? Possibly someone else might know more.
