The '67 right side tube is shorter and the check valve is completely different and will work without cleanace issues.  It' bends off on 2-45 degree angles.  The '68 tube is taller and won't work like that.

It's just the way it is.  Back in the day, no one ran smog and a cowl plenum AC.  My Chevelle was two weeks old when I ripped off the smog and threw it in the trash.

Is that 67 smog tube still available?I would use that instead of cutting up and rewelding a 68 tube

It's a completely different tube with different bends, and the check valve is different with two ports on 45 degree angles.  NG.

That is a good question.  I can tell you that most people did not get the headers because it doubled the cost of the Z28 option.  Not cost effective.  And the Hooker headers were a better header so most added them after the purchase of the car.  I have only seen two documented cars that had both.  My white car and Sam Bishop's dark green Z28.

If you experienced living back in the day, this all makes sensebut to many of the younger generation people who are trying to restore a car today, it's difficult to process why and how things happened back then.

I know of a '68 in the SF Bay area that has both factory headers and the CP - if that's at all helpful to your data Jerry.

Flowjoe,

Yes if it's a documented car with paperwork.

Thanks,

Jerry

How would a car be judged if it had the correct 1968 cowl plenum and had the original exhaust manifolds with plugs in the smog holes? Second question is my car came with CP in backseat when I got it years back but the pop with the  car does not denote the CP anywhere on pop
