1968 R/S Molding clips style
« on: November 26, 2010, 01:38:19 AM »
Hi Guys,
Part # 3921828 retaining clips in the AIM (page 423) shows a clip that looks like the repo items from classic camaro or rick's with a green finish and two prong construction, However the clips that were I removed were four prong brown finish clips that resemble a
bug with longer "leggs" on one side like a stink bug (the moldingd are somewhat triangle shapped). There is not a revision listed in my AIM but there is no printed date either, The car is an L.A. 05C, I want to use the brown clips that fit perfectly and holds the moulding very tight. Does anybody know if these clips were original? changed at the assembly plantat some point?  and if so, where can i get six more?
The brown four prong clips are far superior to the green two prong clips. Has any one else encountered these clips on their car?
 Thank you for your time,
  Victor

Hey Victor! I ran into the same thing when I replaced the mouldings on my 68' rs. I believe the brown clips are originals. They are superior, but good luck finding them.  You could try Ebay. I used some of the green ones and so far so good. Sometimes you just have to go with whats out there. Not the first time the repros proved to be an inferior product.

Kev,
What is the build date of your car? LA or Norwood?  I was thinking/hoping that they were "Borrowed" from a different car line and find them that way, Still looking.

Have you guys looked through the Auveco catalog?  They are one of the world's largest suppliers of clips and fasteners and on the shelf of every shop.
