Correct Body Sill Color

Just curious I have noticed that some 1969 cars have a black sill. I have a 1969 6 cylinder Camaro with trim option Z21. I would like to know if my car should have a black sill or body color, which is white.

Yup that is where I got the info from, but I want to be sure I was reading it right. From what I read it says my car should have a black sill. Please correct me if I am wrong. I would hate to read it wrong and end up with the wrong paint.

OK Thanks, but shouldn't it have the rocker molding and wheel opening pin stripes? I might be reading the PDF wrong.

Looks like the rocker molding was not put on either after the repaint.  With the Z21 option, you should have both molding and blacked out rocker on a white car.

Yes - it should have the rocker molding, rocker blackout, and pinstripes.

Thanks John that is what I thought. My car does have the Z21 option, but I removed the chrome trim on the rockers because they were thrashed. Also one of my louvers was missing. I will have it all back in place after the mini resto. Is there an exact dimension for where the blackout begins? I just want to make sure that I get it right.

By the way I read the GM plant assembly article and it was awesome. I really enjoyed it. Thanks for sharing that with us.

One more thing. do you think it makes sense to install the front end as a unit like was dome when new or one piece at a time until together.

Probably depends on how much room you have in your garage/shop - the fully-assembled front clip is pretty bulky. I think most guys do it piecemeal, like most plants did (except Norwood and Van Nuys). Rad support/header/hood latch support/lower valance first, then the fenders (with inner fenders already attached to the outer fenders), then the hood.

Hey Tom that car looks insanely clean. A trailer queen no doubt. I love how clean the cars look when they are done, but who could ever drive a car that nice? Makes me want a driver so I can enjoy it and drive it.
