A friend of my dad's from back in the 60's had found a few more pics of his car. They aren't the highest quality, but cool none the less. He thinks this photos were from April 69, near Spooner, WI.

Attached are a couple of photos of my old '68 Z28 which I owned for a couple of years right out of college, and which in '76 I traded for my current '69 Z28.  Photos are poor (made in 1975 timeframe), and probably shot with an instamatic, and only scanned from the old print a couple of years ago.. :)

Oaklyss,  Great pictures of the racing at Qualcom Stadium (or the old Jack Murphy Stadium). That was an 8th mile track they set up to keep us off he streets. We use to race up at North Ruffin road. On some Friday or Saturday nights you could find 100 cars up there. It started to get out of hand when someone brought a home made Christmas tree up to start the races. That's when the police started shutting it down. Oh, the good old days.

1975 - car owned for two years at this point. It will get back to this one day, soon. This was my back-and-forth to school (187 miles one way to college) - 4:10's and 75 miles an hour, an exhaust pitch you never forget. I loved the Goodyears then, probably couldn't drive on them now (brought the Pacer home on bias ply Generals, all over the road for 113 miles, all over the interstate). Gotta love the X77's.

Pictured are photos of a '70-1/2 Z28 that I owned in the early 80's..  I really liked driving it as it handled better than first gens (IMO).. :)     but one winter, while I was in the process of building a large garage building, we had a big snow (for us).. and seeing the car covered in snow prompted me to sell it to a young fella who came by and asked about buying it (at the right time).. wish I hadn't done it now.. :)

Out of curiosity - did you get the Henry J or did he get you ? My best friend in high school (class of '71) built an ex D/G straight axle, fiberglass front end, Pontiac welded spider gear narrowed rear end, 327 ram-log intake Henry on the street: looked very similar to this pic. I swear it would jump over a Coke bottle when it launched. Ride quality was so bad you'd leave a kidney on the road every bump you hit, but what a blast to cruise in. Those were the days -

I too owned a Henry J for over 25 yrs, before I sold it to make a garage space for a '60 Corvette I had opportunity to buy.    The Henry had a '57 Chev rear, quarter elliptic suspension, 41 Ford straight axle front, split wishbones front and rear.   and I started with a 283 2bbl/PG... and ended up with a 302+.030 (1967) from a drag race Z28 and Muncie M22..  but never achieved the dreams I had for it.. :)
PS.  I'm trying to track down the '67 Z28 body that the 302 engine came from.... unsuccessfully so far.  That drag race Z28 came off the line at 10,200 rpm, shifted at 9800, running 11.6's...  :)

Well, its been 30 years and hundreds of races, so I don't remember. I do remember the Henry, I think it was a trailered race car so he probably won this race. It was just qualifying as I don't think we were in the same bracket. I raced at Carlsbad too, until it closed. My Camaro was a street car, but was pretty quick. Ran low 8's here and high 12's at Carlsbad. 355ci with 292 casting "Turbo" angle plug chevy heads and full port and polish (huge ports, had to custom cut intake gaskets and hogged out the Hooker Super Comp headers and had to weld them), 485" Crane cam 236* @.050",  B&M turbo 350 and Super Hole Shot converter, 4:56 posi 12 bolt, Holley Strip Dominator with Holley 750 double pumper, Mallory Unilite and coil.

Well i hope i am not posting out of line here but I love seeing these back in the day Camaro photo's

Below is a photo of a photo I took that was posted at a speed shop... I know nothing about any of the Camaro's other than this was on the Berlin Turnpike in CT.  not sure if you can see them but they have some ET's written below with some pretty fast times...   ;)

another of the same but without the flash reflection

The far left 69 Z28 car reads below it "Z28 Mike 10.90"  The 68 Camaro it reads "Bm/P John 9.30 or 9.80" the far right 67 Camaro reads "SS/D Don's 10.90" E-town" as best as I can make out.   enjoy..

Not a 69Z but it was my first new car. 1971 SS 350 that I was trying to copy Grumpy Jenkins image. With 1500 miles on it I pulled the 350 and installed a 454, headers, and fiberglass hood. Sounds logical at 18 years old. I remember sticker was $3400. Wish I had it today. George
