Deluxe interior door panel emblem
« on: September 14, 2010, 11:28:36 AM »
I am shopping for new door panel emblems for my 68 deluxe interior.  In my search I've found that I can get exact reproduction parts or repro parts with longer stronger studs. The longer posts are claimed to fit better on repro door panels.

Has anyone seen these parts? Do the new improved parts look original? Any pros or cons either way?

Thanks, Mike.

Not sure about 68s, but I'm pretty sure the 69 door emblems are the same (except long studs) as the grab bar panel emblem.

At one point, I had reproduction door panels and the repro emblems with the longer studs.  IMO, the emblem quality was fair at best (they actually looked OK until you compared them to a set of originals) and it was almost impossible to start the push-on retainers on the emblem studs.  I actually ended up threading the studs.  Even doing so, I had to heat up the door panels and press the emblems into the panels.  It never ended up looking right.  Then, when I found out how poor the fit was of the door panels, I tossed everything and went back to a set of nice original door panels and original emblems.

For the record...........and OEM deluxe door panel emblem has 9/16" stems and I found a set of aftermarket emblems with 13/16" stems at Lonestar Car Parts in Texas.
