Obviously I'm a newbie on this site and perhaps there has been discussion on this topic before.  At any rate here goes; My car is a '69 RS/SS 350 with the "Special Paint" delete option and is painted GMC code 80 which was offered by Olds under the name "Powder Blue".  In recearching this color I have seen many variations of the color; Carolina Blue, UNC Blue, UCLA Blue, Sky Blue and the list goes on.  All of which are slightly darker than mine.  The original paint can clearly be seen behind the door panels and the second paint on the car matches it to a tee.  Are there any other paint codes for these other colors or are they all one in the same?

Yes...Buick is listed right next to Olds flanked by Camaro and Pontiac on code 80.  Any clues as to how rare this color is?  Sorry...I hate crystal ball questions also.

Wasn't common then, less common now. :)  I've seen 6-8 cars over the years.

Send me an email with your car's #'s and I may be able to tell you more.

What other numbers do you need besides the Vin?

KurtS

Cowl tag (pic would be preferred). Any drivetrain #'s if you have them handy. :)

Just sent you the info via email.  Vin, engine, a pic of the POP, Cowl Tag (both of which are already de-coded) and a pic of the car.  Thanks for any additional info you can give!

KurtS

Thanks!
I remember your car. Back in 01, World Wide MuscleCars in OK had it for sale. In fact, I have a pic of it from back then I can post. No stripe back then. IIRC, the story was something about being ordered in UCLA color (maybe for a daughter??).

Yours is the only powder blue car I've seen out of LOS.
Is the selling dealer on the POP?
Nice car!

btw, there was no paint delete on Camaros. All cars left the plant with paint on them. Yours is special order paint.

Wow...So the story I was told from the previous owner is true.  It went something like this, "The car was ordered by a GM executive for his daughter as a graduation gift from UCLA.  She wanted a color that resembled UCLA Bruin blue and this was the closest GM offered'.

PLEASE SEND ME ALL YOU HAVE ON THE CAR!

In addition...you are welcome to post the pic of the car I emailed you.  I have tried but it's difficult for me to do so on this site.

THANK YOU KURTS!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

Kurts...Here's the info on the POP.
There is a # in the "Authorized selling Dealer Imprint" box:  8462704 (hand written)
Owner's Name: Pat Murray, hand written (I'm assuming Patrica Murray)
16524 Harbour Lane, H.B.: hand written
VIV: has two hand written dates: 12/12/68 & 12/12/69
There is another hand written # on the front of the POP: 633

Kurt, I just logged on to WWMC.  The car is on their front page!

KurtS

That's too long to be the dealer code.  Maybe a phone #?
HB - Huntington Beach? That address is right on the water, if so. Not sure where you'd park a car! :)

That's the story WWMC was giving. I'm not a believer in stories like that. They always involve a GM exec for some reason. Unless someone has talked with Pat, it's just a story.

Here's the pic.

Thank you for posting this pic!  I'm guessing this address was Pat's colledge address and perhaps there were apartments located there at the time.  NM guy here so I'm not to keen on Calif. happenings.  All I can tell you is what is on the POP.  However, our two stories on UCLA are too coincidental.  I think there's a possibility its true.  Is there anyway of finding out if there was a Murray exec employed by GM at the time?

I can't tell for certain but it looks like the car in the pic has its original paint.

Can you please send this pic to my email address?

Thanks!

Wow! That sure is an eye catching color. Beautiful car, the white top really sets it off.

Kurt S mentioned it now has a stripe, which one?
'67 RS 327 convertible, '69 RS 350 coupe, '73 Type LT 350 coupe split bumper.

It has a white hockey strip which complements the vinyl top and interior very well.  But if this isn't how it came from the factory it's coming off.  Problem is...I do not have the build sheet.  I am hoping someone at WWMC can help me out.

I tried posting pics of the car but I'm PC challenged and I'm hoping that Kurt can post the pic I sent him via email...
