Accelerator Pedal Height
« on: August 13, 2010, 02:43:09 AM »
The gas pedal on my 68 is set back a good 6 inches from the brake pedal. This makes it awkward to shift back and forward from the gas to brake...really awkward.

In my other cars (including ones of the same vintage as the  Camaro)  have a much smaller distance between the pedals...loser to about 2". Is it normal for the Camaro to have such a huge gap?

The brake pedal is adjusted correctly..otherwise I would have problems with the brake light switch ..and I don't. Is there an adjustment on the accelerator linkage that will allow me to pull the accelerator pedal forward?

Mine seems to be unusually close to the floorboard.

Please help ...this is making the driving uncomfortable.

BTW, I have an automatic with power disk brakes.

Shorten the linkage between the carburetor and where it hooks to the pedal rod under the hood.   That should raise the foot pedal

The procedure for adjusting the throttle linkage is in your Assembly Manual in UPC 6, sheet D5, and in section M35, sheet A17. Done properly, that will put the accelerator pedal where it belongs.
