Console gauges
« on: June 29, 2010, 11:15:49 AM »
This past weekend I went and visited a friend that has a very nice unmolested 69 convertible. While driving it I noticed that the gen light lite up on the dash while the key was in the on position. But the car has console gauges. Is this because someone has added the console gauges? The amp meter on the console seemed to be working fine. I only have my 69 Z to compare this to and I don't have a gen light. I have console gauges.

Mystery horn...also while looking over the convertible, i noticed a single horn down low on the radiator support. Seemed weird to me, unless that is where a non rs horn is supposed to go and someone had put two horns up on the hood latch like on a rs car. Again my Z is an rs so I dont have any other reference, and have not looked at the assembly manual yet.

What do you think?

Thanks,

Lawrence

Sounds like the console gauges were added; console gauge cars don't have a bulb in the generator light cavity. Where the bulb is present (non-console gauge cars), it should light up when the key is turned to the "on" position as a bulb check, and goes out when the engine starts.

All '69 Camaros have two horns, mounted on the hood latch plate.
