67 CRANKCASE VENT TUBE (327ci)
« on: July 15, 2010, 02:30:37 AM »
The vent tube on the back of the block by distributor is being put back(was leaky).  Does anyone know if it was to have a gasket or RTV?

I'm out of town and don't have my references handy - look in UPC 6 in your Assembly Manual on the sheet that shows the crankcase vent system and it'll show whether it takes a gasket or not.

If you have the AIM, look at K24 A2, or page 267 as penned in on my copy.

I believe the bolt goes thru a flat washer, then fiber washer, then thru the tube assy then another fiber washer on the bottom.  I recently bought a repop set and their fiber washers are black.  Had to buy from an early 60's Chevy parts vendoras a road draft tube hardware set.  You also may want to ensure you have the tin can looking vent under the intake, that connects to the same passage inside the rear of the block.

I found mine can't be installed until the engine is dropped in, as the rear lift shackle is in the way and will need to eventually come off.

Will refer to manual.

And yes the canister was in the oil valley.  Any ideas on gaskets you mentioned for this part?  Can't seem to reference at any known parts places.

Looking at your photo you probably need L30 A3 page 279 as reference.  Gaskets etc should be the same though.  I found them at one of the Eckler online stores.  Their part # 564109.  You may be able to get just the gaskets from them, I needed this entire set.

Found a pic of my needs on pg.98 6 C5.  Exactly what I have.

Frustrating the ASM never shows a 327 210HP 2BC or LF7 engine.  Why is that?!?!?!?!?!

The V-8 engine shown in all the UPC 6 V-8 sheets is the 327/210hp.
