69 AC lower shield
« on: May 29, 2010, 01:48:34 AM »
Did the lower AC shield shown in A.I.M. UPC C60 B4 (#3 396 shield) go into production? Tried a search but could not find info.
If it did, does anyone have a picture. I assume it was made of plastic.

I've never put my hands on a real one, but see the photo below; it's plastic.

JohnZ,
You have made my day, exactly what I was looking for . Great picture with allot of detail.
The A.I.M. calls for #4 screw and#5 washer, but picture looks like a machine screw w/conical washer (Assembly). Your thought?
Thanks again for your continued input.

Do you remember if there was a 5/16 bolt with washer (assembly) or bolt and washer separate. Was the bolt pointed on the end or flat with a cut out so that it could cut  threads?

I don't recall where I got the photo, but it's obviously a production part.

It's a reproduction of an original part.   I beleive it was made by a guy with the screen name of markx22 on Camaros.net.  He built it off the remnants of an original.

Heres the thread that the pictures came from originally:

Mark,
Thanks for the info. and picture.
Did not think to try Team Camaro and I am a member.
With almost 9,000 low HP BB's built, I wonder how many had AC?
It is obvious that not many,if any of the shields survived.

Thanks again.

Mark ,
Do you have any additional pictures other than the one shown?
Does anyone else have pictures other the John and Mark?

I think I remember hearing that Novas had them..

..and possibly Omegas, Venturas and Apollos as they all shared the same subframe from 69-74. ..with C60 of course.

No they weren't used on SBs, and other than the one in the pictures above no one has ever seen one on any big block Camaros.  No one repros them, so you can't buy one anyways.
