1967 L-88 Aluminum heads painted from the factory

Did Chevy paint the L-88 Aluminum head orange from the factory? I saw pics from cars that had these heads painted. If so was it a thing that they disguised by painting them, or just something a owner of the car did? I have an old pic of Grump Jenkins 67 Camaro SS that he raced in i believe in stock eliminator and it showed the engine and the head were painted orange. Its the 396-375 engine, i am thinking its the iron heads no doubt, but again did he swap these heads out in favor of the 67 L-88 heads? Whats your take guys, ever heard of the factory Aluminum heads painted orange?

I guess i answer my own question, lols,according to the Corvette action center web site, all 1967 L-88 Engines were unique, valve covers, cylinder heads and block were painted orange. Any other input is greatly appreciated about Grumpy Jenkins engine, i like these vintage drag cars.

1967 Corvette L-88 aluminum heads were painted orange just like the rest of the engine; Corvette L-89 aluminum heads were NOT painted orange - they were masked off and remained natural aluminum. Both engines used the same heads (casting #3904392).

I think it was done that way on Corvettes as a recognition thing. '67 L-88's are obvious by the air cleaner element in the air duct on the hood and the "chicken-wire" insert on the carburetor and the huge road draft tube from the left side valve cover, and have painted valve covers just like the 390, 400, and 435hp 427. The L-89 is simply a 3x2 435hp with aluminum heads, but it was the only '67 Corvette with chrome valve covers, and they left the heads natural to show off the aluminum the owner paid extra for (only 16 were built, which made it the rarest '67 Corvette powertrain).
