68 factory big block proof
« on: March 13, 2010, 04:44:12 AM »

Hi guy's,

Im currently having a healthy discussion with a mate regarding proving 68 factory big block cars and factory options that came with the 68 year/models

My mate insists that to prove the 68 big block car the key is the original motor regardless of transmission or differential.

I suggested that if you didnt have the original big block motor but had the P-O-P and/or Dealer invoice that surely would increase the chances of proving a 68 factory big block???

Another hot topic was the options available for the year of 68. Apparently the SS was not a highly optioned model i thought otherwise.

Would anyone like to correct either or both of us please???

Look forward to your well informed suggestions/information.

Cheers  ;)

you have the heater core placement as well as the mounts should have a 3/8 fuel line too.

Also fuel line clip coming up  top of frame is rivetted  into frame where it it snap's into holder where small block's have bolt on clamp! Also if had ac evaporator tube goes to inside of box where s/b goes to outside box. Also transmission brace is different.

He's talking asbout the POA valve on the evaporator. It sits on top of the ac housing and turns towards the inside on a BB?? It looks backwards from what you'd think IMO.Does anybody know why this was done that way??

Try your local dmv & see if you can do a title search you may get lucky in some state's you can do it. Also if you have the original block or 4speed transmission with the last 6 off the vin stamped it help's. Also having the protecto plate in the back of the warranty book helps. I t is hard to prove with out this.  Also if you know any off the previous owner's call them.  Hope this helps.
