Z/28 02D Built during the 4th week of Feburary 1969, Wheel Date?
« on: February 12, 2010, 06:47:00 AM »
Hey Guys, what should the date of the "YH" Rally Wheels be on a 4th week of february car? ALSO, how far or CLOSE should the dates be. A couple days ONLY between ALL 5 wheels, ok with-in 10 days? Exact match? I have seen some guys selling 4 or 5 wheels all with-in 2 days of eachother, some ALL the same day. Is this the way it should be?....Thanx......Danny

ALSO, I forgot....Should the trim rings for the same car have hold-on clips ALL the way around, or just the 4clips? Does the date make a difference what trim ring was used??....Thanx AGAIN..Danny

I have 4 YH 14x7 Rallys, and all have same date. Spare is different, by about 4 weeks.

JDV, see what I mean. I wonder if your spare was changed out at one time.
I also wonder if it makes a difference depending on car. Right now all I REALLY care about are Z/28's

I always wondered about this. Maybe some experts will chime in.....I would be real curious to see what the data shows..Danny

Well guys I got a little behind on Camaro issues. Went on vacation and got myself the Swine Flu. Just about killed me, not kidding, for real! 18 Days later I am still not 100% but back in action a little.
I still need to know the average amount of time 15 X 7 Rally wheels should be dated prior to the build of the car. I need to find some wheels and don't know what date to look for. And if they should ALL be the same date. And if not, how many days apart seems to be the norm? PLEASE HELP!

My car is also an 02D build, and retains its oringinal trim rings.  Your car would use the clips that go all of the way around.

When was the change made on the clips on the rings. Are the 4 clip rings old style or new?

Ive picked up alot of YH wheels over the last 15 years. My own research shows all the Jan wheels were all 11, Feb were  all 26 etc. . Ive never seen another day stamped for these months.

I have never seen a march wheel or july wheel of 69.

For an 02D car I would have to say it would be a 1-11- date. The next date run is 2-26 .I believe  it would be too close to your car date. The 2-26 date is on my 03D car.All the wheel dates would match.

The trim ring would be the four outside clip ones.

Thanx Chris, I just went online for the heck of it and found a few "YH" wheels for sale. Alot WAY past my build date. But one actually dated Jan. 28th 69. Or so he says. But it almost looks to me like it is KI9  11   28. It kinda looks in the picture like there is another "1" next to it just not stamped well. Which would go along with your theory of the 26th being the only Jan. 69' date. Go take a look and see w3hat ya think. I think I will stay away from that one for now. And go ahead and concentrate on the 1-11-69 date. I think you are right about my buil;d date as it would be maybe on my build DAY, or a day or two before. However my car COULD have been built on Fri. the 28th, and the shipment could have come in and they grabbed wheels and put them on. But I like your info and logic better. Especially since it takes time to get them stamped, painted and shipped off to the factory and so forth. Thanx again also on the clip amount.........Danny

I looked , and it has more of a possibility of being a K19 10 28, I have found more of that date than any other YH.

The 70 monte carlo used the YH wheel until going to the FW wheel. The FW is the most common 15x7 ralley, or probably any size rally ever made, due to the monte carlo.
