I am looking for some clarification for the trunk lids on 68-89 cars. I have heard 68 lids ran into 69? I looked through the threads and did not see anything I have an early 69 Camaro 10 A of 68 it seems like I rememeber something being said of tabs which mine does have now. What I would like to know is the differences in each lid if possible. Thanks

We judged a car two years back  at the GM Nats. It was around your date and the orig owner and it was a 68 deck. He said it was never replaced. Post a pic. of the bottom of yours so we can see it

The deck lid with the "tabs" along the rear edge was the "second design" 1969 lid, which was used from approximately December '68 through March '69.

The third-design '69 lid had the "tabs" removed, and the Fisher Run Number (date stamp) was relocated from the center of the inner panel a few inches to the right, on the angled rib.

So is a 69 first design actually a 68 lid? I have an oct 68 car and from this I can tell I have the wrong lid as mine has the tabs on it.

Yes, it is. The '68 lid carried over into 1969 as the "first design" 1969 lid.

yup on the tabs, I see your 68 lid does not have the 4 holes for the Pontiac spoiler.

By the way Paul thanks a lot for sending the pics of your lid. Mine looks just like the ones in the link you sent out earlier.
