Part numbers from the 60's, is there any difference
« on: February 07, 2010, 04:19:07 PM »
Have a set of 11/32nds SJ rods  part number 3927145 from way way back with 3 runs on them.. wrong gas and a 060 327 block w/ TRW 2211 AF slugs don't make for a durable combo, eh?
Ran a 12.03 @117 mph in a mid 70's F'bird - no suspension and a fairly stock 'verter. We were happy as heck when we saw the numbers on the board, but after pulling plugs, a couple of the plugs were speckled on the porcelin, and 2 plug tips were a missing..  No scoop on the hood just a hole for the Holley to stick out a mite and be visible when she "belched a 'goodie'  on the line.  Had a 150 lb battery in the trunk to transfer weight more effectively, and she porpoised down the track  a bit.
Sorry about the l'il story, me hearties, but, querstion is, I believe GM has a new number set up for them now, and as such, are they the same rod or a newly manufactured item??
Thanks!
Ted
