Need help decoding 69 camaro
« on: April 13, 2006, 02:28:30 AM »
I have a 69 camaro that has been stored in the garage for 20 years. Im finally going to do something with it. I was told that it was an SS car ? The car would appear to have had a big block motor and a four speed trans. I code that i have a question about is under tha paint code there is J294 ? I was wondering if anyone knows what that means. The cowl tag reads as below.

     ST 69 12437   LOS168567

     TR 711           51 51 PNT

          11B             J294

J294 is just an internal Los Angeles assembly plant processing code.  Car 294 in batch J which means nothing.

Every car/tuck (Chevy-Pontiac etc) built at LA GMAD during this period (1967+- to 1970+) will have a similar code A001 to Z999, repeating over and over.

There is nothing on this tag that confirm anything other that date built, paint and trim colors.
