Just spotted this 12A LOS L48 w/ PG on eBay.  States that it has the round radius rod but no pics or axle code.  From the ad:
"Front Disc brakes, 12 Bolt Posi, Round Radius Rod, R/S hideaway headlight assembly with relay board and wiring harness"

Kurt, you have the info on my car. I bought it from the original owner in 1984. It is an L48 m-20, 3.73 car. The original owner states that the car was recalled to install the radius rod. It is square, and they didn't use the brkt under the rear seat. There are two bolts and lock washers holding the front radius rod brkt.

 There should be 3 bolts holding the front bracket. Two against the floor and one to the side rail.

Does anyone know why or when the change of the axle bracket came to play on the Second Design - Rectangular Radius Rod. I've seen two versions, one have a press mark and the other having a hole drilled just above the side dimples? I'm surmising a June of 67 change.

 I assume the square was needed to handle the larger engine torque and also the additional snubber bracket added as a means to limit the rears travel due to spring wind. As for a transition period I don't know when. We can only get a rough approximate from the dates within the assembly manual but that's not exact when it hit the production floor.
  The two Camaros I have with original rears are one 'BJ' rear (3:07) stamp dated 0404 for a LOS 4B (April 13th per UOIT) dated trim tag and that has the round bar with no holes provisioned for an additional bracket. That car has the L35 w/TH400. The other rear is a 'QK' (3:31) stamp dated 0331 for a NOR 5B dated trim tag and that has the square bar with the additional bracket for the snubber. That car has the L35 w/4 speed.

Thats not what I'm asking. I'm referencing cosmetic looks on the bracket welded on the axle tube for the square bar.  I've seen some with press marks and another with a hole on the backside of the bracket. It can be viewed on this link       http://www.camaros.org/radiusrod.shtml

On the lower pictures; first picture you can see the circular press marks just below the side notches. And on the last picture you can see the factory hole just above the side notches. Thats what I'm asking about.

 I see the hole now....its dark in the picture where you can't notice it unless you know it's there.
 I'll check my car when I get home to see if it has that lone hole in the back.

 Here is a picture of the 'BJ' rear dated 0404 on the '67 04B LOS L35 w/TH400 transmission.
This has the round radius rod and you can see this has the hole in the rear.
I looked at the 'QK' rear dated 0331 and this has the square rod w/stop bracket. There is no hole on that axle tube bracket.
It would be interesting what the hole was for. Maybe to hold and/or strategically place the bracket on the tube prior to welding?
Could be an interesting poll to add to the CRG article.

Jon,

  First, thanks for adding to the research.
I think I see a pattern already between the bracket with the hole vs. the one without it.
From what I see in the CRQ report pictures and on my 2 cars is the one with the hole also has a stepped 'notch' in the very rear of the bracket on the bottom.
The bracket without the hole is flat along that rear edge. Can you confirm if yours are that way too? That would make it sound like there were possibly two suppliers of that part or a change in the way it was stamped and no other meaning for the existence of that hole.
