100A Alternator???
« on: November 24, 2009, 06:13:22 PM »
I'm debating installing a 100 amp alternator in my '67 RS/SS, which has all of the power assist options. Any input/experience as to whether this is a good idea, or just a waste of $$?

Thanks as always!

What problem are you trying to fix??

Be very careful with alternator ratings. The output at idle is what matters, not at 6000 engine rpms....

I'm not so much sure if this is a problem or annoyance, it just seems like the top and windows are operating slowly (maybe slower?), and the headlight doors also seem like they are a little power starved sometimes (for clarity, I have replaced the stock headlight door electrcial stuff which never worked right it didn't seem, with a "modernized" system from Retro-Electric)

Do you frequently run the top up and down, run the headlights open and closed, and run all the windows up and down all at the same time when idling? If not, I wouldn't worry about it.  ;D

nope...more just an annoyance than anything else....if the alternator was an easy workaround, I thought I might try but it doesn't sound like anybody has decided to go that route, so, probably just best to forget about it
