I am the owner of this re stamped engine pad, and i would also like to know how to spot a fake in the future if at all possible! The only reason i had expected this to be a re stamp was because of the VIN was not present, and if you look close enough some of the numbers are not as straight as the others.

Wouldn't want the fakes to get any harder to spot.

Good point. Never mind, Ill figure out eventually. Just need more time looking at the details of originals...

Tom, I just reviewed your pictures and I noticed that you can see the vin stamp to another car in the picture that shows the side of the block. I cannot make it out completely, but is it a Camaro vin?.............................RatPack.............................

Here is that part of the photo, cropped and rotated. I see the sequence number, looks like 30120 or possiblt 80120. Thats all I can make out.

Tom, I tried to invert the picture but it didn't help identify any other characters that might be present. If those numbers do not match the last 5 digits of your vin, then that is not your original engine.....RatPack......
