69 Camaro master Cylinder(pics added)
« on: July 17, 2009, 03:56:14 PM »
My Master is starting to 'go" on my car and before I do anything I want to make sure whether it is an original 69 Master or not....I read the CRG reports on Masters' and cant quite get a definate.....it reads "made in the USA" on the bottom but I cannot see any numbers....where or what else should I look for? I will post a pic later on.....if its a replacement....I'm not going to rebuild it. Thanks in advance for any input. Here are the pics.

The "309" master cylinders are on Ebay. They look just like the GM without the "US" stamp. That is where I bought my back up four years ago. I am guessing they are still there. If not call Billy at White Post Restorations and see if he has one. whitepost.com

I'm not sure if there are any Advanced Autos in your area. I got a correct master cylinder for my 67 there. It was a rebuild, and only cost $15.00 plus a $5.00 core charge. It was a Delco Morain with the correct part number and Delco Morain logo embossed on the outside. It had the pads for the bleeders, but was not drilled for them. The cap was'nt the greatest, so I got a reproduction. The good thing about Advanced is that you can see a picture of what the part is supposed to look like before you get it. Auto Zone might be another alternative. It sure beat the high prices I found on Ebay, plus you get a warrenty locally.
