68 350 SS Air Cleaner Assembly

(1/3) > >>

Oregonjam:
What would the correct AIR Cleaner Assembly be for a 1968 Camaro SS 350?

Thought it was an Open Element with perhaps a PCV inlet in base. What engine used that set up if not a 350 SS?

tom:
my interchange book calls for :
6484222 single snorkel - 350 4bbl auto
6484223                    - 350 4bbl manual

P&A says the same #s...

Oregonjam:
Awesome, Thanks guys. That will send me on a new mission.
Found a pic in another thread for an auto here as well.

Thread name is:
Correct Air Cleaner Assembly for my 68 rs/ss 350?

Cheers,
John

Oregonjam:
I have come across the Air Cleaner Below. I believe it to be a 1968 version but would like to confirm this.

It has the snorkel facing the drivers side and it is for an Automatic. It has the chrome lid for an SS.

I have always heard that the closed filter housings that had a rectangular hole on the base (shown in the pic on the right side) was specifically for a 1968 model.
Is this true?
