Can you tell me more about the registrary...it's purpose, how to get in it, etc.

Maybe I should list it as 18N331439 but I notice in the orphan section that the 1 is left off the front.    It would be nice if there was a list per year of the last 6 digits of a VIN or something for cars that are in the registry.  Or something along those lines.

Sorry, I somehow missed this.

The CRG database has 17,000+ vehicles in it with data gathered from many different sources - cars, documentation, orphaned engine/trans, forum posts, data submitted, ebay, etc.
It was designed from the beginning as a research tool - gotta have data if you are going to have facts to base research on. There are no plans to ever make it publicly searchable/available. The confidentiality of the db is a key feature that has resulted in data being submitted that otherwise would not be available. The data results from the db appear throughout the website - paint percentages, research articles, etc.

No, your car was not in it.  But I had your tag pic from TC and just entered it. Interesting, there's another convertible with the same colors (red on red) only 2 VINs away from yours. That's unusual. Same area too.

Thanks for the reply.  I can get the other code info to you.   I downloaded a program a few years ago that I inputed the data to send, but didn't think it worked (operator error probably).

That is very odd about the other one being nearby, since I found that my car came from South Carolina in mid 70's to WV.   I have WV and VA DMV records from mid 70's until present.

Also, I understand the data not being made public.  I thought about that after the fact.   It's sad that there are those who would use the info for counterfit purposes, but that's the world we live in now.    Again, thanks for the great job you do keeping up with CRG!

I have 3 69's I have owned for a long time. There is very little posted about the cars as I bought them long before the internet became public and I have been a little secretive about my cars. These unknown cars are pretty original and should probably be in the DB as they could be of use for documentation (correctness).How do I get them in this DB?

At this point, it's over 22,000 67-69 Camaros. Some of those cars do not exist, only paperwork or drivetrain survives.
There are clear distortions in the data. While we have 4060 convertibles in the db (6.5% of convertibles made), the 17,170 coupes is only 2.5% of production.
Z28 - 2300  8% of total production
L6 - 2950  2% of total production
That tells something of the survival rates of convertibles and Z28's.
COPO L72 - 510 of 997
Z11 pacer - 690 of 3675
Z10 - 180 of 450-500

I thought that might be the case. Hard to imagine how low the survival rate is with so many cars made. But I suppose it's the same for other makes and models as well.

I am a new member and joined a few months ago.  I have a 1969 Z28, have owned the car for 40 years, and only recently found out about CRG from a supplier I am buying restoration parts from.  The information available from this team is amazing.

I believe it was an original SS model. The original dealership that sold the car was Grant Bishop in Los Gatos, California.

Hello

I’ve owned my Camaro for 31 years now. It was my first car. I bought it for $1500 back in 1993. It has a 350, M21 4 speed and 12 bolt rear end BV code 4.10. It’s still a project and needs paint. I’ve been collecting as much original gm parts as I can, when I can afford them. Hopefully someday I can finish it and enjoy.

I drove down to Portland, Oregon and bought from The Chevy Store. It’s a classic car dealership. I saw the original Z28 it came out of. It was getting a JL8 rear. That was bought from Reggie Jackson (the baseball player) years ago. I have pictures of the rear end and the Z28.

This site is amazing. My 69 Z28 was purchased new from Grant Bishop Chevrolet, and still has the original dealer frame on it and original plates. I’ve never seen or heard of another car from that dealership. Mine is an 09C and was sold on 12/15/1969 by Grant Bishop.
