1st Car Show
« on: May 30, 2009, 11:26:21 PM »
Hi, I have done my homework, I purchased my car, I restored the car and now I am ready to show the car. It is completely stock and it is a convertible. Since this is my 1st show I was wondering if anyone out there has any tips on how to present or show your stock convertible Camaro. Do I leave the top up or put it down with the boot on or off? Should I roll down the windows or leave them up? Open the hood? How far? Opened or closed trunk? These questions may sound silly but I just got done reading Muscle Cars Showtime! and judging tips but nothing was ever said about this type of presentation. What will give the judges a great !st impression walking up to my car. This is a great site and I have read about and have received many great responses during my resto. If you have any ideas or you are a judge please give me your input. Thanks.

If the show is governed by an organized body they will have guidelines.  Ask them.  If it is a local show, it's anybody's guess.  Ask whoever looks in charge.  For example, your car at an AACA show would be hood and trunk open, top up.  Most local shows here in my area, it's hood open, trunk your call, top down.

Hi Phillip and thanks for your reply. I thought it was a learn as you go kinda thing unless the rules are set as you had stated. Thanks again for your input.  -  John

John,

I should add at an AACA show, etc. it is good to have factory documentation available in a discrete manner like in a notebook.  But, again, at a local show you will see some cars with a custom show board, trophies etc.

BTW, love that butternut vert!  Let us know how your first showing goes!

Also, I would like to add don't get mad when the red, chromed out, modified car beats you at the local shows.  Just go enjoy yourself and meet some new friends.
Most of the local shows I attend are for charity anyway. Fire Department, Air Force, etc.
