3970010 is the block casting number - that block was used from '69 through '79 in many applications. The GM39 is a foundry pattern number. The block casting date is on the passenger side of the rear flange of the block, opposite the casting number. What's stamped on the machined surface on the block in front of the passenger side cylinder head? That stamping identifies the engine type and application.

On the other side is cast what appears to be F207 ( By the distributer )  Can't see anything by the Oil filter
What is stamped under the Alternator is V0207DZ
It has a replacement Trans and I have no idea how to check what heads are on it ?  (I have not gotten around to checking out the Rearend numbers yet but it is a twelve bolt )

Check that casting date again - "F 20 7" would be June 20, 1967, and that's almost two years before the 010 block went into production.

The "V0207DZ" would be an engine assembly date of February 7, 1969, and it's generally agreed that "DZ"-suffixed engines didn't start using the 010 block until April.

If you remove the valve covers, you'll find the head casting number and date; please post what you find.

F207 is the number by the distributer

On the center of the head are the numbers 1254 cast into a raised pad
under those numbers are                   333882 ( larger numbers )

Is there an easy way to send pics to you

Thanks for your help

Do you have a pic of the pad? Is it a short or long pad?
This a long pad. A short pad doesn't really have enough room to stamp two sets of #'s.

Those are 350 "smog" heads with 76cc chambers, cast in September, 1974.
