SS/RS/Z28 with crossram?
« on: March 31, 2009, 01:39:09 AM »
Could you get a SS/RS/Z28 Camaro with a crossram and a 4-speed?  67, 68, or 69?  Or are these just phantom cars?  Or could you special order one?

Doesn't the SS ONLY come with a 350?  Meaning that you could get an RS Z28 with a crossram with a 4-speed?

Thanks,
Tony Huntimer

I guess I should have asked if you could order an SS/RS/Z28 and have the dealer install a cross ram intake...?

Thanks Paul!  Much better pictures than my old book by Wayne.  I never knew Edelbrock made a copy of their own.  I thought it was only Offy and Winters that cast cross-ram.

SS/RS         yes
RS/Z28        yes
SS/RS/Z28   NO

Z/28 = 302
SS = 350 or 396

RS is a styling package, most prominent feature being the hideaway headlights.

Tony read these:
The Great Camaro by Michael Lamm
Camaro! Chevy's Classy Chassis by Ray Miller
Catalog of Camaro ID Numbers 1967-93 by Cars and Parts magazine
Camaro! from Challenger to Champion by Gary Witzenburg
The Genuine Camaro White Book 67-85
Camaro by Richard Langworth
The Definitive 1969 Camaro Z/28-SS396 Fact Book by Jerry MacNeish
1969 Camaro Factory Assembly Manual
Camaro Untold Secrets 67-69 by Wayne Guinn
The 1969 Camaro Reference Book by John Hooper

they are not all perfect, (but together they are), and if you are writing a book about Camaro's, your personal library should have the above books.
opinions are like wallets, some just aren't worth stealin'.

Tony,

I cover many of your questions in both of my Camaro Fact books which have been out now for many years, and are now in newly revised 4th editions.  Visit my site for more info.  www.z28camaro.com, and click on publications.
