Disc Spindle
« on: March 15, 2009, 06:33:33 PM »
I have to disc spindles both with codes of GM 5962 and one has A077, the other has B076.  Does anyone know what the codes mean and can they be used for a 69 Camaro change over from drums to disc?  Thanks for your help.

Well, I received no replys; but taken a guess, I would say that A077 means January 1977 and B076 means February 1977.  Just a guess.  Thanks anyway.

If they are 1976 and 1977 the tie rod end connection will be on the front side of the wheel centerline. First generation Camaros are rear steering so the tie rod is on the rear side of the wheel centerline. Remember the brake caliper also is on the rear.

If you are planning a disk brake swap, you should check this site: http://www.pozziracing.com/brakes.htm#Converting_Drums_to_Discs

Thanks, I already checkout David Pozzi site; lots of good information.  I am doing the JL8 front and wanted to be sure I could use the spindles I mentioned early; well I put it together today and ran into one problem, the caliper bracket needed a little trimming but everything is good now.  I already have a QX rear; soon I will install it.  Thanks again for all your help.
