« on: February 15, 2009, 11:53:57 PM »
My 69 Camaro is a x66 car. Numbers and letters on rearend housing are E280, QZ, 07, 01G1, E, VIN 124379N568363. I was hoping some new info out on 69 camaros since i give up on trcing it down a few years ago. If i remeber right i had traced to Ill.

The casting date of E280 would be May 28th, 1970, and the assembly date of 0701G1 would indicate July 1st. That casting date would put this axle too far past your December, 1968 cars build to be original.

However, QZ was a 69 application code indicating a 4.56 Posi with 4 wheel disk brakes. In 1970 they used a three letter code, so double check the E280 again. Are you sure it's not E289 and are you sure it's actually QZ?

The QZ im sure of, i wrote these numbers down several years ago, above the E280 i also have down K or J , i dont remember why. I guess i will try to look again, but i think the 07     01G1 are right plus the E. I started investigating this car 10 years ago and after a couple years i give up. I have a folder of info i found back then. After seeing this site i started all over again. Iwanted to make sure this wasnt a conversion car. Some of what i do know is alum. intake 3933163, 7171 PNT, TR727, block3955272, i have so many small notes all over i need to start over on identfing everything. I worked so long on looking for info i just wore out give up. Now maybe theres more info out there. Thanks

It's actually 3894860NF and it's the CASTING NUMBER for a 67-69 Camaro and 67-69 Nova 12 bolt axle.
