Kick panel speaker mounting
« on: January 25, 2009, 05:56:39 PM »
I'm purchasing a '67 RS Convertible this week and it only has the one speaker on the top of the dash. The previous owner upgraded the stereo to a 100 watt aftermarket model that fits in the original radio hole and upgraded the speaker to a dual tweeter style.  I was wondering, did convertibles with the am/fm 8-Track option have 2 speakers (in the doors or kick panels?). I know there was a 4 speaker option for coupes, so I'm assuming two of them were up front.  Any help would be appreciated.

I have the same car and someone added speakers in the kick panels. There is room. It was not factory wireing. I would trade you kick panels if you wanted to add speakers. My interior is gold, but that would not matter to me.

I don't know about the factory options.

I've got black, so I'd rather not.  I have a buddy who has a stereo shop, so I'll just buy some 4" x 6" and have them installed in the metal hole behind the kick panel.  Thanks though.
