If I'm not mistaken, a four leaf spring was standard issue on the Z-28 only.  JohnZ, tell us the answer.  If so, you'd better do a title search and start loooking for some original pieces or verifying with prior owners.  Dave

Look at this:
http://www.camaros.org/suspen.shtml#MonoVsMultiSprings
According to this report all 69 12 bolt, 350s had multi-leaf.
JohnZ can tell you definitively.

Thanks for reply. I thought I read that they started putting four leafs on SS cars mid year(not sure) Dont think its a Z28 no tach though not sure one is needed to be. NON POSI rear code BL1207G2 Not sure but I think it only has one exhaust hanger. Also has standard hood springs(26 coils) Still all a puzzle to me. Thanks Scott

Don't give up...
On the downside, Chevy-Camaro.com says its almost impossible to tell about SS without the original motor.  (In other words, you can't easily "back into" an SS just by figuring the options.) :-\
But give us your whole trim tag and any other numbers and details you can find.  You did not include everything about your trim tag, did you?  Does the exterior code have an X code?  That MIGHT point to a SS possibility... ;D
When one of the CRG members sees this, they will want all your numbers... ???

One or two fuel lines?

# of spring leaves was not dependent on the model, but the options.
From the site:
Generally, Z28's used 4 leaf springs and the other multi-leaf spring applications used 5 leaf springs. However, contrary to popular belief, the use of 4-leaf springs only on 68-69 Z28 cars and 5-leaf springs only on SS, L30/M20, LM1, L65, and COPO cars was not fixed. Spring sizing was assigned as a function of weight and option - and this was especially fine-tuned in 1969. Z28s with five-leaf springs and SS, L30/M20, LM1, L65, and COPO cars with 4-leaf springs are possible according to factory documentation and they have been observed (Z28, SS, L30/M20) on original cars. We have not yet observed a COPO, LM1, or L65 car with 4-leaf springs, but believe it to be a possible outcome, depending on ordering options.

Hi all, Iwant to post all numbers I have to see if it sheds any more light on my car. The VIN# is 124379L525867 The trim tag is   ST 69 12437 VN267182
TR 712   7979PNT
O2C       Q107
The tranny is a little confusing for me there are alot of #s on it But from what I can tell the casting number is 3851325 whitch I think is a M21 but dont know if its close or wide ratio (anyone know?) The date on it is P01 19 whitch I couldnt figure out Dont think its original to car for some reason also partial vin (I think) is 5Z112657 Now I am going to pick the motor up this weekend and after talking to previous owner this is the same motor he got with the car back in 1988. He is not sure if its original or not all he knows is its a four bolt main. So theres a slight chance I will get lucky and it will be original, but Im not getting my hopes up.I wiil post those numbers when I get them. THANKS to everyone for there input

The trans was built on January 19, 1965, and is out of a '65 Chevelle built at Fremont, California; no way to tell by looking at it whether it's an M20 or M21.

What's the axle code, it's located on the passenger side axle tube.

Axle doesn't look original either (could be, but very doubtful).

Does it have big block frame mounts (one side is higher than the other by 1")?

Does if have the rear brake valve on the subframe on the driver's door?

Previos owner said he thought it was orignal rear but who knows ? Gears were changed to 4:10 posi I think I am going to change rear with a 12 bolt posi I found Axle #s on that one are BS0829G1 that might be a better fit for the car I was going to put it in my other 69 whitch has a 67 12 bolt in it with pretty bad axle tubes on it but I think 410s would be better in my automatic It does have the brake valve on frame.Small block motor mounts heater hoses come out next to heater box Is there any way to tell if rear springs are original any type of numbers car has been sitting in a garage since 1992 Dont think they would have been changed.
Thanks for your help Kurt    Scott
