build sheet locations
« on: December 02, 2008, 11:44:29 PM »
This question has probably been asked on here a hundred times.  Where are the build sheet locations on a 69 camaro.

Thanks in advance for any info.

What I have read is they are under rear seat, on top of gas tank and some rare occasions behind glove box. I have no experience in finding one and am using what I have read as my resource.

I had been told recently that GM can now print off data of a classic vehicle, like build sheet, options ordered simply based upon the VIN, does anyone know if this is true? I had heard that this was not possible?

On an LOS built car there will be one on top of the gas tank, on a NOR built car theres a 99.9% you won't find one.  If it was left in the car it was an accident, they were all supposed to be removed from the car prior to the end of the assembly line.

Tired old issue. Chevy does not have build info on 40 year old cars.

Thanks for the response William, as it is a 'tired old issue', I was informed by a person who told me they had done this. I suspected the resources of this site could clarify for me/us.

It can be done, ONLY if your car was originally delivered in Canada.

Even Canadian docs have been compromised. In the old days they sent you a copy of the import sheet your car was on along with 19 others. Several people have all the original pages. Cars have been re-created from the ground up based on the info.
