69 Z28 brake problem.....hanging up
« on: July 24, 2008, 04:59:07 PM »
My brakes on my Z want to hang up after car is driven a few miles. I noticed that the pedal is tight and if you put you foot behind the pedal and pull back it will relax the brakes some. Car does have a new reproduction booster on it. Is there some kind of adjustment I need to make?

Do you know if you have the correct brake booster rod in the car? I know there are a couple different sizes.

It's the one that came with the booster and master cylinder.

Check rod length and adjust if neccessary. Are all 4 hanging up and if not which one or ones are?  Scott

I adjusted the rod going to the pedal, plus the brake light switch. Took it for a test drive and everything is fine. I believe it was the switch more than anything.

The booster-to-pedal pushrod always needs to be adjusted to ensure you have free play at the top of pedal travel, to avoid just the symptom you describe.
