Another trim tag question
« on: July 14, 2008, 10:17:51 AM »
I recently bought a '69 z-28. Car has wrong motor, trans, correct 12 bolt and a very solid body. I wanted a nice driver not some high end resto so this car is perfect for me.
I am not computer savvy enough to post trim tag pics but I would love to get one up for people more knowledgeable than me to critique.
I am confident this is a real Z but if the experts tell me different I will accept it.
Who can I e-mail this to to get it posted?

To post pic:
Use tbe Reply button at bottom of this page.  In Reply page, click Additional Options.  An Attach feature will appear.  In Attach, use Browse to find the picture on your computer and attach it.  Or from Quick Reply, use the Preview Option, and it will give you Additional Options.  The pic cannot be any larger than 128KB.  If it is, then use a third party like Photobucket.

It's really not as hard as it sounds!  ::)

What you posted decodes:

I can do everything except upload picture as picture is too big and am unfamiliar with how to use Photobucket. Is there any way to compress my picture? I am really an amature at computers. Thanks for your patience.

There are a number of software packages that can resize your photo. If you have any photo editing software on your computer, it can probably do the job. If not I believe you can find free software from microsoft amoung others you can dounload that will do the job. What size is the picture now? Before you resize the photo try cropping. This is where you cut off unneeded portions of the picture. Again most photo editing software can do this.

Welcome

Your body is 600 before mine :)

I dont know if it is my eyes or if it is the picture, but is there a green T under the center of the trim tag?

Thanks!  I haven't had it too long but I love it. I posted another pic of area just below trim tag because another member has drawn me attention to something I had't seen before. He saw a green T. I scraped a little paint off and I'm sure he's right. I had looked right past it when I took pic of tag.

I had a feeling one was there ;)
I have an orange T under the tag

Does anyone else have this inspection mark?  All of the restored inspection marks I have seen are all above the brake booster.

69 - carefully check above the booster (just to the right of the hose clip), I bet you'll find the three (PBT) marks there as well

If you use some enamel reducer... NOT LACQUER THINNER... and put it on a rag and go SLOW you hould be able to find more P's T's and B's on both sides... plus you probably find something like Black scrawled across the firewall... this is what we found on the Black 04C X33.

On the TT side there is an Orange "B" visible and under the TT behind the wiring there is a "T".

One quick point about the 06A build date, all June cars are 06A, I have a late June car, based on the VIN number, and it is 06A.   Just thought I would point that out, I've heard there was a strike at the time which led to this quirk.

Take care

Got some reducer and tried to uncover more firewall markings. Going slow. Don't want to screw up now.
I'm going to pull motor and replace subframe bushings next week so I will delay any further effort until I have an open engine bay.
If anything shows up I'll post pics on a new thread. This one is kinda getting away from original topic. Thanks to all who have helped so far.
