1968 convertible basket case
« on: June 04, 2008, 01:49:03 PM »
Hello I just purchased a botched restoration attempt on a 1968 camaro conv.  Body is extremely rusty and to make things worse the drivers side inner and outer rockers have been replaced and appear to be installed totally wrong.  The owner was just ready to get out from under this thing so I was able to purchase it right.   Numbers match 327 powerglide, red with black interior. I suspect the owner would have taken this body to the junkyard and sell off everything else had I not bought it.  Thats how frustrated he was with what he had paid  a sandblast shop to do to this car.  I almost passed on the car because of all this, but I couldn't bear to see this car be lost to history forever.  I'll start on it after I finish a 69 mustang GT that i'm doing for myself.   I hope I can repair this body I may have to seek professional help on this one!!

Your 68 sounds like a car we recently finished...  http://lucas-restorations.com/68convertible.aspx

Looked like a very nice ground up...no corners cut.  Will you be keeping it?  Or will it be for sale?

We restored this 68 for a customer. It was his high school car. He plans to keep it a long time.
