Restoration Painting
« on: June 10, 2008, 07:10:33 PM »
I know this has probably been asked a million times but I'm having a hard time finding the threads specific to what I need.  So...here it goes.  Does anyone have a chart for what part is to be painted what color?  Items from the power steering gear box to the hood latch between the core support and header.  I'm most likely gonna be using dupli-color rattle cans for part painting but whatever brand/color is suggested is the route that I'll take.

Also just to add to this.....  What are the substitutes in rattle can paints.  I'm on a budget and can't afford $50 a piece for some of these

In general Rustoleum blacks seem to be the best rattle can subsititutes, like #7777.

But let me add, I've been spending a lot of money undoing a bad restoration of a 68 coupe.  Rattle can paint was one of the major culprits.  In the end there is no subsitute for PPG.

I agree whole heartedly if I was building a car that would be a trailer queen.  No offense.
My car is a standard coupe 327 that will be driven.
