Restoring Vigilite
« on: March 28, 2008, 04:09:08 AM »
Has anyone restored a vigilite setup? The only part my car is missing is the socket that goes into the front parking light housing. My car is a 69 pace car and from what i understand this option is pretty rare. Where could i find this socket, and how much should it set me back? Is there any other GM car that i could gret this off of?
Thanks, Jamie

Buicks and cadillacs used a light monitoring system in the early 70's... my parents 72 Buick Wagon had it...

Pretty sure this is what you are talking about... Ive never seen them reproduced anywhere. DjD over at www.camaros.net has the vigilite system, you might go ask him if he has any ideas where to find those parts today. :)

It is very rare.  About 1600 cars out of 243,000.

I did not restore mine but I have it and it all works perfectly.

I can take some pics or give you some info if you like.

Well, i really only need the socket that the fiber optic cable goes into for 1 front parking light. I did some more research and found out that D+R Classics sells kits for restoring this, but i don't think they have the part i need. I was just wondering if anyone knows what other specific GM odels had this.
Thanks for the offer of pictures, much appreciated! :)

Try 68-72 Corvettes, They also had fiber optics, maybe some of the venders sell just the sockets you need.

I don't think that's the same as what i'm looking for, but thanks! :) I'm going to have to take my other parking light apart to get a good picture of it. :(

It looks just like mine. I cant tell if it is the same size as mine, but the color of the grommit and lens is the same.

My 69 Corvette had the fiber optics standard, I'll be they are similar if not exactly the same.
