« on: February 11, 2008, 08:10:06 PM »
I have acquired a 67 Camaro that I would like some help in figuring out what I have. Cowl tag is as follows;

            TR           765  Z                                                  A-A                 Paint
                           E2ELG                     3SLK
                           4N      3BY

Here's what I get out of it;

67   -    year model
12637   - 12 - ?  6 - custom interior   37  -  coupe

4N  -  N - 396/325 hp black pan w/round radius rod
5BY  B - Large rear bumper guards   Y - Belts all deluxe

I know the engine is not origional, which is know a 454 w/396 heads.
The transmission nos. are PT301B (Munice) 392566
The 2 nos. on the rear end are (bottom front flange) 8894860NF, and on the passenger side tube, QK 0120G
The car also has a tilt steering colum and black vinyl top.

Any help would be appreciated.

The rear end code of QK would be for 3:31 gears.  Can you post a picture of the cowl tag?

I'd like to see a picture of the tag.

The tag says AC and BB - didn't happen in 67, so I'd say it's not real.  :(
Always question any black car....

The car has the plate spot welded to the floor with the studs through the floor and the front bracket for the radius rod is bolted there with the bolt in the frame as well.  There is also at least one of the speedometer clips in the trasmission tunnel for holding the speedometer cable.  I just want to add that it was a pleasure meeting Greg and his wife.  I enjoyed visiting with him and helping work on his car a little bit.

With that axle (assuming it's original), it's possible the car originally was an SS350.
But the tag is a repro. :(

That's what I told Greg.  In my opinion the car started life as an RS/SS 350, 4 speed with a/c.  Still a nice car but the tag calls it into question.

Also, note that L and K would NOT have appeared together after the number 3 because when L was ordered (Ralley Sport) the K (z21 exterior trim package) was already included.  Therefore, along with AC and BB, repop trim tag.
