P&A Question
« on: December 04, 2007, 01:53:43 PM »
In the P&As, when a GM service part number is also listed by the same number as "(stamped 0000000)" exactly what does that mean?
Was the supplier using the same part number?  Stamping the GM # in addition to their number?  All the above or something else?

That means that the part also carries a casting number, which is how the part is identified visually; the number referred to as "stamped 000000" is the casting number. Most castings have a finished PART number (the one listed in the P&A book) that's different from the CASTING number that appears on the part.
