1967 L78

My cowl tag says 4k and third week in December.  I'm being told that it's a fake.  Are there any Chevrolet records that will determine the truth?  I've read the posts that discuss Grumpy and the tech center and the pace cars.  Are there any other sources of information?  Any information would be much appreciated even if it turns out to be not so good for me and my car.  Thanks very much.

Hi Alabeagle,

I'm sorry that you did not know that your trim tag was a fake, but unfortunately that is happening far too often now.  Everything that you have read on this and the other sites is correct regarding the late March intro of the L78 and I'm sure that some of the CRG guys can point you to definitive sources.  I'm one of the guys who contacted you via ebay and I can guarantee you, as others will that saw your tag, that it is a fake - regardless of the date shown on it.  It simply is not correct.  Again, I am very sorry that you had to find this out after buying the car.  Mark

Post a photo of your cowl tag using the "Additional Options" button.  There are many experts on this forum that can tell if it's the real deal or a fake.

Mark -

Do you happen to have the Ebay item number on this car?  Thanks in advance.

Sorry Paul,  He must have taken down the ad when he received messages about the tag.  It is one of the older style repop tags, so it is very easy to spot...and the 12c build date doesn't help matters any.

I bought it at Barrett Jackson.  So-Cal Collectibles was the seller.
