Vinyl Top on a 67..
« on: August 14, 2007, 06:18:05 PM »
Hi all,
Question for you,  I have a Black 67 and I have seen a few pics of black cars with vinyl tops and im starting to think it looks sharp.  My question is..... Is it possible to add a vinyl roof to a car that didnt come with one?  And if so.... how hard is this to do?  ???

thanks,
Charlie

Sure, most suppliers have kits for it.  Not that hard if you have basic skills and are patient.

While you are deciding take a look here:

Thanks for that link. I did a search and I must have missed that one. Im leaning on the side of putting one on now. But my brother is the one with the skills so ill have to see if he wants to lend a hand.  Im sure it will cost me a few 12 packs for the shop time.  ;D   Ill have to check the web out for some more pics to help me make up my mind.

Did you catch the one in the link I gave you?  Sumrtime68rs has one, and it's on the link in about his 2nd or third post in that thread.

Iron....just keep in mind you'll have to drill holes in the quarters and tulip panel for the trim pieces... My '68 is nowhere original, but I cringe at deflowering good, original Camaro sheetmetal. My 2 cents and good luck.

Hotrod,
thats one thing that is holding me back.  I just cant bring myself to get the drill out.  I guess ill just have to save up and buy another car with a vinyl top if i want one.   :D
