I know who you're talking about. I never met him but he rents a spot from a body shop a friend owns,  Rods Auto Body. He does a lot of rims with that chrome paint. I've never seen a finished one but from what I hear it looks great. He's about four blocks from my shop. For $100 I think you can get the real thing for that. I have a friend that sends his stuff down south to a place with a 14 day turn-around. They do great work for a good price. I'll have to get that number from him.

Are you taking your car out to Elkhorn? We will be taking our white convertible, it's the 67 on the homepage right now. Maybe we'll see you out there.

FYI - I just got a quote from a local plating shop here in Baltimore for $60.00 to do my air cleaner top.
I'll let you know what it looks like, I'm going to bring it in next week.

I have the original air cleaner for mine that I would like to get done. Are they able to protect the original silk screening on the back of the lid?  Thanks,  Sam

I'll let you know, I'm going to drop mine off on Mon. or Tue.
Mine is an orig. chrome one so I don't know if there is a difference between re-plating, or doing a black one.

Mike:

I took my 67 to the show. I was there at around 7:30 this morning!!!!!  I found a chrome top, they said original, I believe it to be a reproduction. He wanted $80 i got it for $60. So there is no doubt in my mind it is a reproduction. Also bought some wire looms to clean up the engine compartment a little bit. Again IMO, not a whole heck of lot of good parts to choose from and what there was would cost an arm and leg to get.
I saw your car many a time on the homepage for last month, sweet looking ride.

We never made it out there I got really behind at work and I ended up working Saturday Morning. I heard there wasn't anything good out there. Glade you found something to buy. Now if you can only find that flywheel cover.

I just got my bright shiny bumper back from plating and I really happy with it.  This took about 8 weeks but if you are willing to wait you might give them a call.   My front bumper which was in really good shape cost me $160 + freight  The company is El Paso Electroplating.  http://electroplatingofelpaso.com/

We took 8 bumpers to them from various types of cars along with trim items.  They all looked great.
