« on: May 31, 2007, 11:46:49 PM »
I was able to read my licience plate # from an old picture. Can I use it to find out what the Vin # was. Any online sights to go to. I had the car in 1970. Thanks

Call or write the DMV of the state the plate was from.  No guarantees, but it's worth a shot.

It is worth a shot... but most states only keep about 10 years of records.  Try it anyway.  On the web, type the state and "DMV" in your search engine.  If nothing else, they may have a toll free number or email site where you can make inquiries.  Do note: a few states don't call their tag and title office the DMV.  Good Luck!
