1968 396 10 Bolt?

Has anyone ever heard of a 68, convertable, 396 with a 10 bolt, single leaf?  Is it possible?

I have to do more resreach on the numbers.  I believe it was a early production car(late 67) and as silly as this sounds, heard there was a plant fire in 67 that made some of the parts hard to come by for awhile.

It also says that 327s were 12 bolt/multi spring(which I read was an option for the 327).  The VIN shows it as a V8 Convertable.  If the 396 is not original and it's not an SS, my thought is that is started out as on 327, with a 10 bolt/Single.  Just wondering if it was possible for any 396 to come iwth a 10 bolt/single.

That's the delimma of owning a 68, the cowl tag doesn't tell you much.
Why would anyone put a 10 bolt with a 396???  That would be a "bad" cloning...
As to the 327 12 bolt/multi-spring, have you read this:

No 67-69 396 car came with a 10 bolt.

Another way to be fairly sure if it's a 396 car or not--look at the heater box. Big-blocks had the heater hoses exiting and entering around the center of the box--small-block cars had the hoses tucked-in right beside the engine because with a 396 there wasn't enough service clearance. In '68 the 12-bolt and multileaf springs were mandatory when a 396 was ordered because the torque would shell that 10-bolt in no time. Even the 327/275hp 4-speed small-block cars got the bigger rear and springs because the 10-bolt was so weak. As far as I know--and I could very well be wrong--all 6-cylinder and 327/210hp, and 327/275hp cars with automatics had a 10-bolt. In addition, to have originally been a 396 car, it would HAVE to have been an SS car, and all SS cars came with multileafs and 12-bolts...and hoods with louvers...etc...  Hope this helps.

Both those statements are a little too inclusive. :)
Some low-po's got 12 bolts (certain 67 posi ratios) and some SS's had 10 bolts (69 SS powerglides).

Actually, those 69 SS's would have 10 bolt multileafs, not monos. :)

Geez...never seen that either. All the original '69s I've seen over the years have had a 12-bolt, even the 350 cars. Thanks for the heads-up again!
